Tofu doesn’t always have to be just healthy. It can be delicious too. Watch and find out how to make this yummy dish!
Ingredients:
- 1-350g box of extra firm tofu
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 tsp of ginger (minced)
- 1 cup shiitake mushrooms, sliced
- 1 bell pepper (red, yellow or orange), sliced
- 1 stalk of scallions (chopped)
- 1/2 tsp black sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
Sauce:
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp sriracha sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp light soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp water
Cornstarch Slurry:
- 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 tbsp water
Instructions:
- Press the extra firm tofu with a heavy object for 30 minutes, layer paper towel in between.
- Cut tofu into bite size cubes.
- Remove mushroom stem, cut up mushrooms, bell peppers and scallions.
- Make sauce with honey, sriracha, rice vinegar, light soy sauce, hoisin sauce and water. Mix together.
- Coat tofu cubes in cornstarch (1/2 cup cornstarch in total) on a plate.
- Add tofu cubes in oiled pan, fry each side for 2-3 min or until golden.
- Set aside tofu on paper towel to absorb excess oil.
- Add minced ginger and minced garlic to oiled wok, fry until fragrant.
- Add mushrooms, and bell pepper, fry until slightly softened.
- Add sauce and when it starts to simmer, add cornstarch slurry.
- When sauce thickens, add tofu. Mix together until everything is coated.
- Garnish with scallions and black sesame seeds. Enjoy!
