I love my Grandma’s Jjajangmyeon. There are countless ways of cooking jjajangmyeon, I think her recipe is the best.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
200g of pork strips
2 star anise
3 slices minced ginger
2 spring onion
1 tomato
3 tbsps sweet bean paste
1/2 tsp of sugar
3/4 tbsp of soy sauce
1 cup cucumber strips
1 cup carrot strips
1 cup bean sprouts
2 tbsps of cooking oil
1 tsp of black vinegar (optional)
Noodles of your choice
Instructions:
- Heat oil in your wok over medium heat and add two star anise
- Add minced ginger, pork strips, cook until meat turns brown. Then take out star anise and add spring onion.
- Add sweet bean paste, sugar, tomato and soy sauce, stirring everything together well. Simmer for 20 minutes. Adding tomato helps to achieve the perfect balance of sweet, savory and sour.
- Add spring onions on top of the sauce
- Cook noodles according to package instructions.
- Optional add black vinegar.
